It’s time to repurpose your long-form content.

It's time to streamline your content creation process and save yourself time so that you can focus on the areas of your business that you enjoy most!

Do your research.

How can you expect to know what your ideal customer wants to see online, if you don't know what they want?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • How can you relate to your target audience (making sure it's relevant to your business/brand)?

  • What are your ideal customers asking?

  • What are they inspired/motivated by?

  • What are they struggling with?

And if you don't know the answers to these, ask them! You can do this by putting up a poll or question box on Instagram stories. You can use tools like Answer the Public. Use everything at your disposal to get the answers you need to create the content they'll love (and find valuable).

Next, note down all of your content ideas.

It's all well and good to answer the questions, but what use is it if you forget the content ideas because you haven't noted them down? Especially when you’ll probably find that one answer may generate more than one content idea.

I love to use my notes app for this, but I know people who use Google Docs, and even some use the traditional pen/paper method. Find something that works for you and stick to it!

How can you turn these ideas into long-form content?

Would they suit a blog post, an email, or maybe a vlog? Note this down and find a way to keep track of what you have or haven’t created.

Then, it’s time to plan. Whether that be writing a blog post, writing a script for a video or writing the copy for an email. Personally, I then use Planable’s Universal Content Feature to plan and write the blog post (my usual format of long-form content) to help me see where in my content schedule this will be published.

Break each piece of long-form content into multiple social media posts.

I take each of the main points and create a social media post from each of them. Then, if I’m feeling extra creative I may also turn one point into multiple social media posts. For example, each main point could be made into the following Instagram posts:

  • Instagram Reel

  • Carousel Post

  • Image Based Post

  • Instagram Story

And if you’re on TikTok, the reel and carousel could get put on there, and the first three of these could also go on Facebook or LinkedIn if you have an online presence there. You could even turn a blog post into an email to your mailing list too, or expand on it for a YouTube video or Podcast (and videos and podcasts can get broken down into even more pieces of content).

Say you have 5 main points in your long-form content, by doing this, you’ve now created up to 20 pieces of social media content (sometimes more if you have multiple ways of saying the same point).

Create your graphics, reels, and imagery, and then schedule them.

Now it’s time to pair the written content with visuals and then schedule the posts. Scheduling posts makes life so much easier. You can then use the time you'll save in other, more useful ways. I use Planable for this, as it also makes collaborating with my clients on posts SO much easier, and they can easily see when a post is due to go live, and approve it. It has streamlined my content creation and approval process and made it so much quicker!

This way of repurposing your content is a far more thorough way of creating your content, and often quicker too. Leaving you more time to spend time working on/in the areas of your business that you love. You’ll also find that you’ve created more content than you know what to do with!
